Today’s Quote – 2007.08.02

“The most shocking fact about war is that its victims and its instruments are individual human beings, and that these individual beings are condemned by the monstrous conventions of politics to murder or be murdered in quarrels not their own.”

  1. Indeed.

I’m always reminded of a lyric along the lines of “those that give the orders are not the ones to die”, from “There Were Roses”, by Tommy Sands.

BTW, saw NJ native Richard Shindell last night at the Stanhope House. What a welcoming performance – great songs, lyrics, personality, and guitar player!

  2. Sometimes I think if there is to be a war, we should send the politicians and government leaders on both sides to some little island and let them fight it out.
I do believe if they knew they would be the ones in harms way, suddenly there would be fewer wars.
